Low iron glass is a high-clarity glass made from silica and a small amount of iron. It features a low iron content that eliminates blue-green color, especially on larger, thicker glass. This type of glass typically has an iron oxide content of about 0.01%, compared to about 10 times the iron content of ordinary flat glass. Due to its low iron content, low iron glass offers greater clarity, making it ideal for applications requiring clarity, such as aquariums, display cases, certain windows, and frameless glass showers.
